Ahmedabad: Gujarat government has decided to promote chess in school. For the purpose the teachers in the school would be taught the game. This has announced on Monday by Gujarat State Chess Association president and Home Minister Amit Shah. "The programme of today may be a small affair but our initiative to bring home chess to school children is a giant step," said Mr. Shah. As a first step in this direction a weeklong training of 1,500 schoolteachers started on Monday at the Rifle Club here. "We have undertaken to provide a platform for children to showcase their talents at the national and international level in the future," Mr. Shah said.
