New Delhi: In a new move the University of Delhi is planning to remove internal assessment from its final examination results. At present, the internal assessment marks account for 25 percent of the total marks in the university's under-graduate courses. Abha Dev Habib, a senior teacher at Miranda House College (DU) said, "At present, the university compares the marks that students secure in the internal assessment with how they fare in the university exams. If there's too much of a gap, then internal assessment marks are moderated, which means that the marks are cut". Confirming the move, Dean of Colleges, DU, Nayanjot Lahiri said, "In the recent decision taken to change the moderation formula, the question which was raised came in about the current system. We will look into the system, how it turns out to be this year, before any permanent formula is implemented".
