NKC suggests reforms in engineering education

National Knowledge Commission (NKC) is worried about rising number of unemployed graduates and hence suggest for reforms in it. In a letter written to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Chairman NKC Sam Pitroda said “Engineering education is among the key enablers of growth for transforming India’s economy. The quality of teaching and research in this sphere will play a critical role in the emergence of our country as a global knowledge leader. It will also provide vital inputs for enhancing productivity across sectors.” A team of experts headed by Prof. MS Ananth has prepared the new model for change. In his letter Sam Pitroda has expressed the need to establish an Independent Regulatory Authority for Higher Education (IRAHE).
